This project involves the comprehensive supply of instrumentation, industrial cables, tubes, and valve systems for the MOF-3 (Copper Concentrating Plant No. 3) complex, part of the Almalyk Mining and Metallurgical Complex (AGMK) expansion in Uzbekistan.
Launched in 2021 and officially commissioned in March 2026 under the supervision of the President of Uzbekistan, MOF-3 is a landmark $2.7 billion project designed to process 60 million tons of ore annually. As a key material supplier, Anhui Tiankang Group partnered with the leading local EPC contractor, Enter Engineering PTE LTD, to provide a complete package of process instrumentation, electrical connection systems, and fluid handling components. Our solutions were deployed across the crushing, grinding, flotation, and concentrate handling areas, ensuring high-precision process control and operational safety for one of the world’s largest copper processing facilities.
To support the massive scale of MOF-3, we delivered a full-spectrum material package tailored to the rigorous demands of mineral processing. Our scope included:
Instrumentation & Control:
Pressure transmitters (Gauge, Absolute, and Differential) for slurry and water systems.
Radar level transmitters for intermediate storage bins and thickener tanks.
Temperature sensors (RTD Pt100 and Thermocouple Type K) for motor bearings and high-temperature process zones.
Flow measurement accessories (magnetic flow meters and insertion probes).
Pneumatic and electric actuated valves (ball, butterfly, and gate valves) for process isolation and control.

Instrumentation cables (IS – Intrinsic Safety, OS – Non-Intrinsic Safety, and IS+OS composite shielded types) for reliable field-to-DCS signal transmission.

The MOF-3 project demanded strict adherence to international engineering standards due to the harsh operational environment and the strategic importance of the plant. The key technical requirements included:
Hazardous Area Compliance: Installation in Zone 1 and Zone 2 classified areas (due to reagent handling and flotation chemicals), requiring ATEX and IECEx-certified apparatus and cable glands.
Corrosion Resistance: The equipment must withstand high humidity, dust, and chemical corrosion prevalent in copper ore processing, necessitating stainless steel (316L) housings and robust surface coatings.
Signal Integrity: Long cable runs (over 4.2 km of conveyor belts) required meticulous cable shielding design (IS/OS separation) to maintain stable 4-20mA and digital communication signals without interference from VFD drives.
Mechanical Robustness: Field instruments required IP66 / IP67 protection ratings to resist high-pressure washdowns and extreme dust ingress.
Fire Safety: All cables were required to meet flame-retardant and low-smoke halogen-free (LSZH) properties to minimize fire spread and toxic fume emission in confined areas.
Our engineering approach was driven by close alignment with the client’s P&ID and I/O list review, ensuring that every product selection precisely matched the actual loop requirements and control system architecture. Beyond material supply, our engineering team acted as an integrated partner to Enter Engineering, providing value-added technical support throughout the project lifecycle:
Application-Based Selection: We selected pressure and level transmitters based on specific process conditions (high viscosity slurry vs. clean water reagents) to ensure optimal measurement accuracy and longevity.
Radar Configuration: For storage bins, we configured guided-wave radar level transmitters with advanced echo-processing algorithms to ignore dust accumulation and false reflections from agitators.
Thermal Profiling: Thermocouples were selected for high-temperature zones (furnace areas), while RTDs were applied to standard motor and gearbox temperature monitoring, ensuring appropriate response times for each unique application.
Cable Shielding Strategy: We implemented a segregated shielding design—using IS cables with individual pair shielding for sensitive instrumentation signals and OS cables with overall shielding for power/control—eliminating cross-talk in the dense cable trays.
Ex Gland Engineering: We provided an exact listing of Ex d and Ex e glands with sizing calculations to match the specific armor types and cable outer diameters, ensuring zero compression issues during site installation.
Challenge 1: Extreme Environmental Conditions
The Tashkent region experiences significant temperature variations and the plant is located in a zone with high seasonal humidity and abrasive copper dust, which accelerates corrosion and ingress.
Solution: We upgraded our standard material specification to 316L stainless steel for all transmitters and valve bodies. For the cabling, we utilized UV-resistant XLPE insulation and LSZH outer sheaths, ensuring structural integrity and insulation resistance for a lifespan exceeding 25 years.
Challenge 2: Complex Site Logistics & Tight Schedule
Managing the delivery of over 1,500+ vehicles and coordinating with 18,000+ manpower on-site required absolute precision in logistics. The project utilized a "just-in-time" delivery approach to avoid congestion on the 196-hectare site.
Solution: We implemented a phased delivery plan synchronized with Enter Engineering's construction schedule. We provided pre‑labeled coils and tagged junction boxes, allowing contractors to immediately route materials to specific plant sections (Crushing Zone, Flotation Zone, Thickening Zone) without on‑site re‑sorting.
Execution was driven by strict adherence to the EPC master timeline. Anhui Tiankang established a dedicated project management team for MOF-3 to handle order processing, manufacturing, and quality control.
Phased Delivery: Materials were dispatched in four major batches, corresponding to the civil, mechanical, and electrical installation phases.
Documentation & Compliance: Every shipment was accompanied by comprehensive technical documentation, including material test certificates (MTCs), calibration reports for instruments, IECEx/ATEX certificates for glands and Ex components, and factory acceptance test (FAT) results.
Inspection: Third-party inspectors (SGS/BV) were engaged to verify the quality and quantity of materials before shipment from our Chinese manufacturing facilities, ensuring zero rejections at the Uzbekistan site.

Our instrumentation package was seamlessly integrated into the Siemens PCS 7 and AVEVA PI Vision automation systems. The high signal integrity provided by our shielded cable architecture ensured that critical process data was transmitted without loss or interference, even over the extensive 4.2km conveyor route. All deliveries were completed on schedule, and the entire system has been operating stably since the plant’s commissioning in March 2026, with no field issues reported during the initial production ramp-up.
