Project Background

The Laos SAVAN1 Phase 1 Onshore Wind Project is a renewable energy project located near Phin District, Savannakhet Province, Laos. The project forms part of the country's growing wind power infrastructure and requires reliable medium-voltage electrical collection and distribution systems.

China Energy Engineering Group Guangdong Electric Power Design Institute Co., Ltd. (GEDI), an experienced Chinese engineering company serving power and renewable energy projects, is the EPC contractor for the project.

Anhui Tiankang Group was selected as the cable and cable accessories supplier for the project's electrical collection system, providing a comprehensive package of 35kV power cables, cable terminations, joints, low-voltage cables and shielded control cables. The contract value exceeds RMB 15.3 million, with deliveries scheduled from June 2025.

Wind Farm Electrical Collection System

Wind farms require reliable medium-voltage cable systems to collect electricity from individual wind turbines and transmit it to the substation. The 35kV cable system must withstand outdoor and buried installation conditions, including moisture, temperature variations and mechanical stresses.

Engineering Solution

Cable Selection for Wind Farm Applications

35kV power cables were selected with XLPE insulation and project-specified waterproof and armored constructions for outdoor and buried installation in the wind farm environment. Multiple conductor cross-sections, from 3×120 mm² to 3×400 mm², were supplied to accommodate different electrical collection requirements.

Complete Cable Accessories Package

Matched indoor and outdoor cable terminations were supplied using cold-shrink technology for reliable field installation. Copper-aluminum transition terminals were included where specified for the project. Cable joints with waterproof protection boxes were also supplied for cable routing and connection requirements.

Shielded Control Cable Configuration

Shielded control cables (ZC-KYJVP2-22 series) were supplied for control and instrumentation signal transmission, with different core configurations selected according to the project cable schedule.
