The Uzbekistan Sirdarya 1500MW Gas Combined Cycle Independent Power Project is among the first IPP projects developed under Uzbekistan's foreign investment initiative, and stands as one of the largest gas combined cycle power plants in Central Asia. The project is located approximately 150km from Tashkent, covering about 75 hectares.
Developed under the BOOT model with ACWA Power as the project owner, the plant is constructed by a Chinese EPC consortium. Featuring Mitsubishi's advanced M701JAC gas turbine technology, the plant achieves combined cycle efficiency exceeding 60%.
Anhui Tiankang (Group) Co., Ltd. served as the instrumentation package supplier for this project, delivering pressure gauges, bimetallic thermometers, thermowells, and instrumentation accessories to Zhejiang Thermal Power Construction Co., Ltd. in March 2022. The supplied instruments provided reliable local measurement for the safe and stable operation of the power plant.
Anhui Tiankang Group's instrumentation supply for this project included:
Pressure Measurement:
Stainless steel pressure gauges (various ranges and connection types) for local pressure monitoring on steam, water, and gas systems
Temperature Measurement:
Bimetallic thermometers (various ranges and insertion lengths) for local temperature indication on pipelines and equipment
Thermowells for temperature sensor protection
Accessories & Documentation:
Instrument tube fittings and mounting hardware
Complete calibration certificates for all instruments
Material test certificates (MTCs)
Technical datasheets and installation guides
The project employs Mitsubishi's M701JAC gas turbines (JAC series), currently among the most efficient H-class gas turbines available worldwide. The 2+2+1 configuration (2 gas turbines + 2 heat recovery steam generators + 1 steam turbine) achieves combined cycle efficiency exceeding 60%.
The project adopts a Zero Liquid Discharge (ZLD) design, making it a world-class green energy project. By implementing ZLD technology, raw water intake was reduced from 0.64 m³/s to 0.37 m³/s — a reduction of 42.5%. All industrial wastewater is treated via reverse osmosis and fully recycled, with no industrial discharge to surrounding water bodies.
Upon full commercial operation, the plant provides over 13 billion kWh annually to Uzbekistan's national grid, meeting approximately 15% of domestic electricity demand. The project reduces CO₂ emissions by an estimated 2.2 million tons per year, has created over 1,600 local jobs, and benefits millions of residents across the country.
Our selection and supply were based on the EPC contractor's specifications, process conditions, and site requirements.
Material Selection: Pressure gauges and thermometers were supplied with wetted parts matched to media compatibility, including stainless steel construction for corrosion resistance.
Pressure Class & Connection Type: Appropriate process connections were selected according to EPC specifications and site requirements, ensuring compatibility with existing piping and equipment interfaces.
Accuracy Class: Instruments were supplied to the accuracy requirements specified by the EPC contractor for local indication and plant monitoring applications.
Operating Temperature: Thermometers were selected with appropriate ranges and thermowell designs to withstand the high-temperature environment of gas turbine and HRSG systems.
Compliance & Documentation: All instruments were delivered with complete technical documentation, including calibration certificates, material certificates, and datasheets, ensuring full traceability and compliance with project requirements.
Execution followed the EPC contractor's project schedule and quality requirements. Anhui Tiankang Group established dedicated project coordination to ensure alignment between supply and site installation.
On-Time Delivery: All instrumentation packages were delivered in March 2022, meeting the EPC contractor's site installation schedule.
Quality Assurance: Instruments were supplied with complete calibration certificates, material test certificates (MTCs), and technical documentation.
Documentation Package: Complete datasheets, calibration reports, and quality certificates accompanied all deliveries.
Technical Support: Provided responsive consultation throughout the supply process.
The Uzbekistan Sirdarya 1500MW CCGT project received its Full Commercial Operation Certificate on December 26, 2024, and the plant is now in stable commercial operation.
